Altruism the Root of all Evil?

As I wrote in my original post, I am in favour of compassion - a point that was omitted in Malcom's quote and discussion - but not in altruism. In other words, yes I want to help the poor and sick, but I do not regard their claims as a first call on my existence and life. To accept altruism consistently is to in practice deny individual rights.

I think my friend would quite enjoy this article especially after his yearbook qoute that stated "Altruism is the root off all evil. Read it all here.

Street champions, they promise to report if you recycle or not. What does Britain want? To create the paranoia that reigned in the USSR? How does turning neighbour against neighbour help the country? All it does is protect the politicians from the anger of the people and direct it at each other.

Israeli vs Gaza

I have remained fairly silent on this issue, although I have opinions. I support Israeli because it is in a war for its very survival. When we (the allies) were in a war for our survival we did not stop until the job was done. Unfortunately our civilization has forgotten what it means to be in a situation where you are fighting for your own survival. If only Israeli would stop being tied back by the west and deal with it problems. Chiily Willy knows what to do when you are fighting for survival, why doesn’t the rest of the world?
