As a democracy, we have the tendancy to ignore the rest of the world. As stated on the Mythes of war, we have forgoten that all our countries are steeped in blood. From England to the US, each democracy formed as the result of enormous strife. Most forget the costs associated with war, and the ever hungry media is too happy to make a story, no matter what cost to unity or nation. A free press is needed, but there are some things that one should not do. The majority of the population is led around by the media, and has no thoughts to the world other than what is given to the through the sensationalist media. Some of the problem must lie with the executives, who need to make the news exciting, and make huge plots and intregue, whether or not they exist. This is seen to have huge costs, as all can see that after Vietnam, enemies attempt to win by using the media and causualty lists to force democracies to be brought to terms by their "war-weary" citizens. This has given the democracies a defeatist outlook, and the rest of the world looks down on them. In WW1 The Allies lost as many as 60000 on one day, for but a few miles of broken ground. Now For 5000 men They have captured Iraq and some of the Richist oil reserves in the world, and held it for 5 years, and the populance is crying out at the cost. Tell me if This os not the fault of the Media.
